Horn Button Ferrari Dno 246
In the forum ferrarichat.com, there was a discussion about the available reproductions of the horn buttons and how they differ from the originals.
As you can see, the reproduction differs from the original in several ways: it features a matte housing, a metal push button, and a plastic trim ring. This gave us the motivation to develop a reproduction that is true to the original.
The first step was to determine whether the emblem could be reproduced at all. Once again, the challenge was that the required production quantity was actually too small for the manufacturing process. This made it all the more satisfying when the very first sample already turned out extremely well:
As a result, a stamping tool for the raised decorative line around the lettering was sourced, and the mechanical components were designed using a 3D model.
The housing is vacuum-cast, and the two sheet metal parts are press formed. What a nice kit ready for assembly.
Then assemble the knob on its base and put it all in the housing.
If you try hard enough you might spot, a slight difference in the yellow and blue tones depending on the lighting. However, as confirmed by other originality-focused Dino experts, the deviation is so minimal that it most likely falls within the manufacturing tolerances of the time. When removed, the button can be distinguished from original parts from the rear, as not every detail has been replicated.
